Career centers on Handshake have the ability to "signal-boost" employers to their students.
There is a section on the career center page where they can share employers they recommend based on many categories including: Close to campus, Invests in diversity, Hidden gems, Works with the school, Popular with alumni, and Hires international students.
The signal-boosted section of the career center page had title copy that said "Handpicked employers." with the body copy "Curated by the things you care about, and handpicked by [career center]."
After receiving feedback from many colleges and universities, we learned that the word "handpicked" was not appropriate and was ableist. I rewrote the headline and body copy to better align with Handshake's values and keep the trust of its partnering schools.
